Tiesto hosts the first live stream Twitter event ever

HP and Intel will be hosting the first-ever live stream of a concert on Twitter next week at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The headliner: electronic music master Tiësto.

The concert will kick off the launch of a new 10-episode series on YouTube called “In the Booth” — a behind-the-scenes look at Tiësto’s life and his impact on the electronic dance movement. The private event at the nightclub XS at Encore in Las Vegas will stream live from HP and Intel’s newly enhanced Twitter brand pages.

Tiësto will play a 90-minute set on Wednesday, January 11 starting at 10:00 p.m. PT. It will then play on a loop on HP and Intel’s Twitter page for the following 48 hours.

“We have offered streaming on the site before, but this is the first-time ever that the site will feature a live concert,” Rob Pietsch, Twitter’s director of West Coast sales, told Mashable. “HP came to us with the idea and we couldn’t be more excited to hear how the company and Intel will be using their Twitter brand pages to reach out to the public and become destination sites.

Twitter users will also be able to interact with others on the site while watching the live stream next week. HP and Intel execs will also be live tweeting from the show via the hash tag #TiestoLive.

The Web series – produced by Believe Entertainment Group – will launch Tuesday, Jan. 17 on YouTube and each video will be between five and seven minutes long.

“I’m always connecting with my fans directly through Twitter and other social media, so this was an exciting way to help launch the ‘In the Booth’ series and do something special for my fans,” Tiësto told Mashable. “One of the key reasons to collaborate with technology giants such as HP and Intel on my new show is the chance to try new things and go after big ideas..”

Tiesto, one of he world’s most famous DJs and dance-music producers, has brought his supreme mixing talents to the fashion industry with a new clothing line, CLVB LIFE. The electronic-music maven, who describes his own personal style as “contemporary, energetic, and sophisticated,” revealed that fashion has always been of great interest to him. “I have been working on this collection for a while now and I think it perfectly embodies the attitude of the CLVB LIFE experience worldwide,” he mused in a statement.

The collection threads together the electronic dance music movement and consists of high-end tees with electrifying graphic prints that cater to club culture. We caught up with the electronic dance mixologist to find out what makes his fashion pulse race, and he revealed he’s already working on new designs (as well as a new album) for 2012.

Billboard: What is it about electronic dance music that inspired you to create fashion?

Tiësto: Really just about every element, from the music to the clubs themselves and the people who are in them.

Club kids are known for having such a distinctive, colorful style. How much did the fashion sense of your fans influence the tees collection.
The way my audience dress is a major part of how they express themselves at my shows. The colorfulness is definitely a big part of this, particularly amongst the fans I played to on my recent College Invasion tour. There are a couple of shirts in the collection that are inspired by this, taking these colors and putting a stylish spin on them.

Do you plan on expanding the line beyond just t-shirts in the future?
Yes, without a doubt I’d love to do that. We’re working on a few ideas at the moment, so watch this space!

What’s next for you, both fashion and music-wise?
In terms of the fashion line, I’ll be starting work on new designs to launch at some point next year very soon. With my music, I’m currently working on my next artist album, which I’m hoping to release in 2012.

You’ve played for crowds all around the world. Which city blew you away the most in terms of its fashion.
That’s a very tough question, I don’t think there’s one that stands out above all others, I’ve been lucky enough to play in incredible cities like Paris, Rome, Miami, Montreal and Rio who’s crowds each have their great individual styles. I’ve taken inspiration from these places and so many more.

Who are your favorite fashion designers, and are there any in particular you looked to for direction?
Chanel and Lagerfeld are pretty special to me. In terms of what I wear at the moment, I’d say Gucci, Tiger of Sweden, Acne.

Whose style in the music biz are you admiring at the moment?
Kanye has a great fashion sense, I love seeing what he’s up to in this space.

Finally, what was the last song you downloaded?
The last thing I downloaded was the Bon Iver album. It was perfect to relax to during some recent time off.

Yesterday evening there there was a nice (but long) broadcast of the Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol movie in Rio de Janeiro. Coca Cola is nice enough to have a stream available for all you guys who missed this event.

It was a long wait before the event started, since it was raining. People weren’t really interested in Tiesto, more in Tom Cruise but it didn’t stop Tiesto from delivering a nice liveset. It was a shame that there was people talking through it continuously, but that’s the price that Tiesto pays for doing such promo events.

Tiesto to Launch Tiesto’s Club Life Radio Channel Exclusively on SiriusXM

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that it will launch Tiesto’s Club Life Radio, the 24/7 commercial-free music channel featuring music curated by electronic dance music superstar DJ Tiesto.

The exclusive channel, created by Tiesto, will feature a variety of electronic dance music including progressive house, electro, trance and downtempo hand selected by the world-renowned DJ and producer. Other superstar and up and coming DJs are also expected to appear on the channel.

Each week, Tiesto’s Club Life Radio will air a countdown of Tiesto’s current favorite songs during the weekly special “Tiesto’s Top Ten,” as well as new and classic editions of Tiesto’s “Club Life” radio show, which currently airs on SiriusXM’s Electric Area, channel 52, on Saturdays at 10:00 pm ET.

“I’m really excited to be taking my relationship with SiriusXM further by developing my own Club Life channel,” said Tiesto. ”It will be an awesome way to showcase the incredible artists on my own label, Musical Freedom, play new material of my own as well as other music that I’m really passionate about.”

Tiesto’s Club Life Radio will be available in the Dance/Electronic category through the SiriusXM App for smart phones and mobile devices. It will also be available on channel 340 on Edge satellite radios and on SiriusXM Internet Radio. Tiesto’s Club Life Radio will launch in early 2012.

Mission Impossible Theme (Ghost Protocol) (Tiesto Remix)

Tiesto did a remix of the Mission Impossible Theme which is released during the premiere of the new Mission Impossible movie Ghost Protocol in Rio de Janeiro. Tiesto was asked to do this remix and told during an interview at the premiere that Tom Cruise was very excited about the remix.

A nice detail of the release is that a Tiesto set is recorded during the premiere party. When writing this article i’m still waiting for the freaking liveset after seeing 101 trailers and seeing a crowd that is more worried about the rain going on in Rio then being excited that Tiesto is performing there.

Tiesto Would Love Tom Brady to Model His New Line of T-shirts – Interview from NYmag.com

If celebrities like clothes, and if they know someone who can help them make clothes with their own personal vision, they will go forth into this great and challenging retail landscape and put out a line. This right, ye celebrities will agree, may as well be of the divine nature, God-given to those who are very gifted in other ways. D.J. Tiësto, whose chief gifts are musical, says that his Clvb Life clothing line, which launches today at Kitson Los Angeles and Atrium in New York and Miami, was inevitable, considering his love of fashion. Created with the help of his partners, who include Sean John’s Jeff Tweedy, Tiësto’s line consists only of T-shirts for now (men’s are $68, women’s are $56), but he plans to grow the business until he has enough for a runway show of his very own. These days, can the importance of slow growth really be overstated? We called Tiësto in his Montreal hotel room the other day to talk about the line, nightclub and rave style, and his dream T-shirt models.

So why are you doing this?
There’s three things I really like in my life: music, sports, and fashion. So when you’re always clubbing and you always go out, you see a lot of people wearing stuff and I just love it. And I love the magazines, to read about fashion. I like when people dress nice — and also, for guys, I like nice shirts and stuff, so that’s the main reason I got into it.

You read fashion magazines?
Even Vogue magazine because I like to watch girls dress up as well. I like Elle magazine. I love things online, like when all the big brands have a fashion show, I like to see the new collections.

Vogue is going to do a Dutch edition soon.
Oh, I didn’t know that.

Yeah, you should try to get your clothing line in it.
That would be nice.

What was your design process like for this line?
Well, I wanted the first [collection] to be clothes I stand for. And what I stand for is electronic music, so I wanted the design to look more electronic, like Tiësto’s electronic life. One shirt uses many of the colors that you can see in my shows. Everything from the light screen onstage to the colorful outfits that the fans are wearing. Another shirt, I took my symbol — the bird symbol — and I made it a more underground, futuristic kind of design. It’s all inspired by my life as a D.J.

So you’re starting with T-shirts, but where do you see this line going? Denim, fragrance, the works?
Well, it would be nice if it goes all the way. To shoes and pants, the whole nine yards would be amazing. But that’s going to be maybe in five or ten years from now — it’s a very small start. But it will be great to have a fashion career during and after my D.J. career.

Wait, have you set a retirement date?
Yeah … 2065.

Playin’ it safe, I see. So ten years in the future, when this line is huge, will you hold a fashion show?
I want a show for my clothing line, that’s definitely going to happen. I don’t know when or where yet, it’s definitely just a matter of time.

Would you be in it?
I’m not walking in it myself, no. I’m going to be one of those designers that walk in the end.

Will you do the music for it?
Yeah, for sure.

You pay attention to the runways. So, who are your favorite designers?
If I were a girl, I always like Chanel. It’s so stylish and timeless. So I like Karl Lagerfeld a lot. But for the rest, for myself to wear, I like Gucci a lot, and the smaller brands like Tiger of Sweden, Acne, even Diesel this year has a nice collection. The last couple years I didn’t like it so much but this year they have some cool stuff again. And even surprisingly, Adidas has some crazy stuff going on.

What do you think of the current state of nightclub fashion?
It totally depends where you’re going. If you go to a more underground club in Los Angeles you see a lot more dark clothes, almost gothic kind of style, combined with a lot of seventies. And then when you go to a big college rave, you see all the really bright colors, like pink and super-yellow — almost painful. And then you go to a regular, more high-end club, you see a lot of tiger prints and cheetah prints.

There’s a club in New York, Provocateur, that won’t let girls in who aren’t super tall and wearing five-inch torture heels. What do you think of that kind of dress code?
I think it’s kind of racist, almost, you know? I don’t think it’s a good policy. Of course, you have to dress nice. But to [insist] that people are a certain height? It’s pretty ridiculous. Not everybody is 5’9” or 5’10” so why wouldn’t you get in if you’re smaller but you’re still cool and you dress nice? It doesn’t make any sense to me. The best clubs in the world are always the clubs where you have a variety of people. Like you have the crazy people, you have the nicely dressed people, you have the office people, you have the regular guys — that makes it fun.

And at the bigger raves and festivals, a lot of young girls wear little more than underwear.
Is it Halloween?

No, dude, it’s your shows!
I think it’s just the rave culture, you know? Just their excuse to dress up like, uh, sluts. [Laughs (Ed. note: awkwardly).] Yeah, I’m not a big fan of girls in bikinis going out. At a boob bar, yeah I can understand it, but if you go to a club or you go to a nice restaurant, I think it’s better to dress up a little bit. I think it looks nicer. Why do you want to see everyone in bikinis? This is not a pool party. No, I like it when girls and guys just keep their clothes on. Look classy; leave something to the imagination.

Right, the raves are on dry land, ladies. Dry Land! Speaking of cliché rave trends: sunglasses at night, yay or nay?
I don’t think so, no.

How do you dress for your performances?
When I go out without D.J.-ing I dress up way more than when I’m D.J.-ing, because when I’m D.J.-ing, I’m working, so it’s like a three-hour sweat-fest for me. I’m in the spotlights, it’s warm, the equipment is warm. So I’m into wearing just T-shirts most of the time. If I wear nice jackets, I would die on stage. I get T-shirts from everywhere. From Kitson, from Atrium, from Bloomingdales.

How many T-shirts do you have?
I always give them away after I wear them twice. I basically don’t have a lot of T-shirts but I wear at least 150 T-shirts a year.

Do you watch Jersey Shore? Club life is a huge part of that program.
I heard about those people and I know D.J. Pauly D. I’ve never met him but I’ve heard about this guy. But I never saw the show, no. What I hear about it is not very good.

If you could have anyone model your T-shirts who would it be?
That’s a good question. For guys, maybe Tom Brady? Like a really good looking guy who works out. He’s a role model, he’s a nice guy. And for girls, I think, wow, there’s so many, huh? Maybe one of the Guess models or Megan Fox or something. It doesn’t have to be her, just somebody in that style. With dark hair and brown eyes. Not too blonde.

Tiesto is always finding ways to surprise us! This week, Tiesto hit us with the release of his latest collaboration with Steve Aoki called ‘Tornado’, and now he hit us with another track called What Can We Do (A Deeper Love). Tiesto made this track exclusively for Google as part of their new Google Music service. This new progressive banger has the vocals fit for the club by Anastacia. Tiesto introduces new Club Life clothing brand

Just now Tiesto announced his upcoming release. Not a new track or cd but a new clothing brand. The website states: “CLub Life is a global, contemporary clothing and accessory brand that defines the lifestyle for today’s young, fashionable, club-going customer.”

Seems like a big project for Tiesto introducting new clubwear on the market. We’re very curious what the Club Life clothing brand will offer. Will it be Tiesto merchandise or will it take the clubwear seriously to a new level?

Let’s hope they deliver the goods a little bit faster than our IntheBooth.com package
